COCON Copy

Graphic design / International tour technical coordination
During the COCON project (Parts I & II), I created graphic design inspired by the wireframe structure of the robotic arms conceived by Daniel de Bruin. With Wout Panis as technical producer, I served as stage manager for COCON I and coordinated the international tour of COCON II.
The performance was featured in festivals such as ADE, Ars Electronica, and Rewire Festival in 2025
COCON is an audiovisual live performance developed by Cello Octet Amsterdam and Nick Verstand. On stage, eight cellists are surrounded by eight robotic arms that together form a kinetic cocoon around the performers. This framework provides space for compositions written especially for this production by various internationally renowned artists. As the cellists perform the music, the mechanical cocoon slowly unfolds and moves in waves with the sound. The installation behaves like an autonomous entity on stage, interacting live with the musicians to create a dramatic arc of light, sound, and motion in unison with the compositions.
The cocoon symbolises the embrace of Mother Earth as a source of life for humanity, while its mechanical form represents our human intervention in — and destruction of — that very source.
