La Bayadere

Independent

Stage design / Visual design

Conceptual set design study for La Bayadère
This personal project was developed during my free time, inspired by La Bayadère, my favourite ballet.
The design draws on classical elements of Arabic architecture, distilled into simplified forms and patterns. The focus lies on the scale of the scenographic structures and the contrast they create with the dancers and the stage.
All scenographic elements [except for the vegetation]are inspired by the reddish stone found in Petra, Jordan.

This choice of a monochromatic palette enhances any colour present in the dancers’ costumes, allowing it to stand out visually within the overall stage composition.
